Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I start?

When you call Consider It Done, we will initially discuss your project on the phone and schedule a time to come to your home. From there, together we will develop a game plan.

Your next step will depend on the project. For a downsizing project, we may ask you to walk through each room in your home and start to make lists of what you can take with you and what you can’t. For a paperwork project, we may start by asking you to gather all the applicable paperwork in one place. For an estate administration project, we may ask you to write down the names and contact information of the key players.

It can be easy to feel overwhelmed, but relax! You have Consider It Done on your side!

What should I do before our first session?

Relax. Get a massage. Enjoy a glass of wine. After that, we encourage you to think through your goals for the project. They could include: Get rid of excess clutter. Understand how many of my possessions I can take with me. Have my paperwork in order in case something unexpected happens.

Also consider how much time you have to complete the project. For some projects, such as a move, there will be a hard deadline to meet. For other projects, consider what a realistic timeframe might be. Remember, it is always better to start sooner rather than later!

How do you charge?

We charge an hourly fee for each project. The rate to work with an organizer, one-on-one, starts at $70/hour. The rate increases for organizing teams consisting of two or more organizers which is determined by the scope and timeline of the project. There is a three-hour minimum for most appointments.

How long will this take?

Ah, good question! Every project has its own timeline, so at the beginning, we will discuss the parameters of the project and any time constraints you may have. We will be honest about how much time the job will take and provide you with a general timeframe. We will always work diligently and expeditiously to complete each and every project.

What do I do with Aunt Minnie’s pearl earrings and Junior’s coin collection?

Nothing, yet! As we work with you on organizing and downsizing, we will help you determine what you would like to donate, sell, or give to a family member. Remember, now is not the time to feel frustrated! We will take it step by step, together.

What if I don’t want to part with something? Will you force me to get rid of it?

Absolutely not! There is no force in the work we do! We understand that some things are simply too precious to part with—for many different reasons. We will discuss various options—donate, sell, give to a family member. The final decision is yours.

Will you sell things for me?

Selling items is beyond the scope of what we do; however, we can gladly connect you with individuals who are able to appraise and help you find new homes for items of value.

Where do you donate items?

We work with a variety of organizations who are committed to helping our neighbors in need. If you have a particular organization you would like to support or have us work with, let’s discuss!
